Happy 2014!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope your New year's Eve was safe and festivities were enjoyed responsibly. As promised in a previous post today I am providing some before and after pictures to show progress. The before picture was taken early this year, although I do not know the exact date. The after was taken just this morning. I know I am pretty white so it is not a typical before and after you see in exercise commercials/ ads.

 I understand posting these pictures may seem like a contradiction of also an earlier post I made regarding how CrossFit has helped me not look in the mirror so much and focus more on what I can do. Muscle gain and loss though are standard indicators of growth and development in an exercise program. General measurements before and after are as follows.
Waist: 38" / 34"
Weight: 255lbs/ 226lbs
I am looking forward to this next week to have a chance to get my body fat tested again and will post a short blog on the results.

This last week I have been unsure about my next focus and goals. Through CrossFit I have not only met my goal of a comfortable 34" waist by the end of 2013, but I have realized I am only scratching the surface of the potential my body has with such a potent program. The things I can do with my body now were never even considered when I was bodybuilding. I have made some goals for the coming year that will not only motivate me to get to the next level in my functionality, but it will also motivate me to eat and train in a way that my body will go through another significant change.
2014 CrossFit goals;
- 10 Muscle ups straight
- 10 handstand push ups straight
- 100 Double Unders
Hitting my physical goals so "easily" has helped me realize if I do focus on being able to "do" something then the weight loss and muscle gain will take care of itself. July 1st, 2014 I will post another picture of how I am looking by then.

I am thankful for 2013 and excited for 2014. Things are far from perfect in my life, but I am grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ and his merciful atonement that gives me hope. I know with His help I can make the changes in my life that will lead me closer to him and help others come closer to him as well.

Something to also look forward to this month on the 15th is 6 months from when I did my first CrossFit work out. I will have someone video me doing that work out again and will then post the video here on that day. Also if there is anything else you would like me to post about or any questions you have be sure to leave a comment and I will get back to you as quick as I can.

This is where the fun begins,

-Chris
