6 month Anniversary

Good day all! Today is my 6 month anniversary of starting CrossFit. Not only that, but today was also open registration and my weigh-in day.

First of all when I weighed myself this morning I tipped the scales at 224 pounds. That means I have lost a total of 26 pounds since starting CrossFit. I am going to see if I can get my weight below 220 pounds and then more than likely maintain from there. There was only a 2 pound different between my weight on December 14th and today.

My first open as a CrossFit athlete is open for registration as of today. The first work out will not be until February 27th, 2014. I plan to do each work out and will video each one and post them here. I know I will not do as well as the top games competitors, but I think it is still worth posting. For those not aware the open is the first step to qualifying for the CrossFit games. There are five work outs total announced on a weekly basis. The placing of each individual then determines who will have the chance to move on to regionals. The top three in each region then go on to the CrossFit games. The link to the following video explains the overall process. (http://games.crossfit.com/video/finding-fittest-earth) Not many sports out there that are so open to new people entering the sport and if you are good enough, have the chance to play with the big dogs.

As promised I did the first CrossFit work out that I had never finished. I will warn you my 8 year old daughter was my camera person so it is a bit shaky and when she adjusted the camera the view did not adjust with it. The majority of the video is sideways, which I am sorry for. Hopefully next time as I do the Open work outs I can provide better instruction to ensure better quality. Just to review, I had only finished the first two rounds of this work out. I quit that last time I faced this work out. It took me 15 minutes to do 2 rounds. This time after 6 months I finished in under 10 minutes. The video is here and I hope you enjoy. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=He-rKJPawoo)

Thank you for reading and visiting my blog. Please subscribe and leave a comment with any thoughts you have or if there is anything you would like to see me do/ try. As always I hope these posts inspire you to get up and move no matter what it is you enjoy doing.

This is where the fun begins,

   -Chris
