Sorry again everyone for being so negligent of the blog. As I am sure we are all aware life is ever changing and adding something consistent in the mix of the chaotic storm can be difficult at times. Although I have not made an entry for awhile this blog still goes through my mind and I think about what I would have wrote. I am grateful I have some time to take to reflect on this past week and something I have learned.
The stake president has issued a challenge to the stake membership to read the book for Mormon for the next 90 days with prayerful intent. It is not meant to be a sprint, but a time to meditate and allow the doctrines of the book to influence and change us. In priesthood opening exercises the bishop brought up this challenge and opened it up for discussion on ways to approach the Book of Mormon anew. Bro Cochran brought up the idea of approaching the Book of Mormon with a theme. One time you read it you review the ways God delivers his people, another time you may look at the way God answers prayers. I felt that was perfect for me and have felt that as I continue my study of the Book of Mormon I am going to look for the way the Book of Mormon portrays “things as they really are”. I know in my mind I know the answers I will get, but I want those answers to transition to my heart and there is no better book to do that than the Book of Mormon. I am sure many of my blog entries will revolve around this experiment and hope all who read this blog feel at least a stronger desire to make the Book of Mormon the cornerstone of their gospel study plan.
