So a couple weeks ago in Arizona was the temple dedication. It was a special experience to hear from the 1st presidency and others in the Arizona area. As I was preparing for the temple dedication I pondered on the difference between me and those spiritual giants in my life. I realized that my spiritual giants either have fewer roles in their life so they are able to focus on the eternal roles they have, or they do not let the roles they have go to their head. Especially as a man my worth and personal value in part comes from my ability to provide for my family. At times I define myself by my job. Something I have to keep reminding myself is other than the eternal roles I have have all other roles/ titles will have an end after this life and they will not matter in the end. My net-worth will not be a question Christ will ask me when I meet with him again, but the value I put on my family relationships will consume much of that sacred and imminent conversation. I hope we all give the roles and titles the world gives us just enough attention to balance the eternal with the temporal.
