In a talk by Boyd K Packer of the Quorum of the 12 apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints he related our eternal progression to a 3 act play. The premortal life was act 1, then our earth life is act 2. Act 3, as you might have guessed is our post mortal life. Like a play President Packer emphasised that the happy ending of a play does not come until the final act of the play. This is why I named this blog part 2 of 3.
We live in a time of great distress and struggle. Many have lost long-term employment and it seems that the excessive spending so common even just a year ago has forcibly stopped. Although this life is full of happy and wonderful moments it is not the "end". Having been unemployed for an extended period of time I have have had more than enough time to count my many blessings. I can not imagine being able to handle the things that have transpired with out the support and love of my little family.
This time of unemployment has been a great blessing for me as well. I have been able to develop a stronger relationship with my wife and children. I have been able to really narrow down what I want to do long-term in a career, and the guild I am a leader of has been through one of the biggest growth phases. I look at my life and am amazed to be so blessed. Yes, life is hard, but I feel stronger from my experiences and not demoralized.
I hope as we all go through life that we remember that no matter how good moments in this life may be it is nothing compared to the eternal and unending joy we will experience in the life to come as we keep our covenants and become who the Lord needs us to be. I hope I can be as faithful through the 2nd part of this three act play as I was in the first.
