The weather in Mesa Arizona was wonderful on this Easter Sabbath. There was a soft wind that would run through your hair and you neither needed a coat or felt to wear shorts. There was a light rain the day before which I think may have cooled it just a bit for the weather we were to enjoy.
The activities focused on the kids finding eggs. The best part about hiding eggs for kids as young as mine is you can hide them while they are there and they do not remember where you are hiding them. Meghan did not do much looking, but Genna and Jurien had a fun time searching. Kristen had found a head band with bunny ears that that passed from kid to kid as each one became tired of the constant pressure on their head. Jurien seemed particularly aware of how the ears stood up and wanted them to stand up a particular way. He would look at himself in the mirror and adjust the ears or ask for my help. I guess we should have had a camera.... oops.
One of the sweetest things about today though was the private time I had to think about the Savior. I enjoyed the video adapted from Elder Holland's Conference talk about the final days of Christ's life. That lead me to listen to his talk again in it's entirety. Being reminded of those events also lead me to the book of St. Luke where I read chapters 22-23. (Will be working to get chapter 24 read today).
It felt so nice to have some time to ponder on the sacrifice Christ made for me so that I may have the chance to be like him. How blessed we are that God loved us so much he gave His only begotten son. I know that we can never in this life comprehend all that the Atonement does for us, but what sacred experiences they are when we feel what the atonement does. I love my Savior... he is my true friend in a way I know I do not fully understand and thus do not fully appreciate.
I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter and that like the new life that Christ gave us all may we start anew during this Easter season and become "more Savior like thee"
The easter egg hunt sounds wonderful. I love the bunny ears. It is nice to be able to hide the eggs while the kids are there. I do love easter As a kid I thought it was boring but the chnace to think of the Savior is a wonderful and speical.
